Presence in Sri Lanka: new community begins activities in 2026

The Congregation of the Sisters of Saint Dorothy of Frassinetti began, on January 18, 2026, a new phase of its mission with the establishment of the Dorothean Community in Pannala, Sri Lanka. This presence marks the expansion of the Congregation’s missionary work and reaffirms its commitment to proclaiming the Gospel in different realities around the world.

The new community is composed of five religious sisters from different nationalities, expressing the international character and the lived experience of communion that define the Dorothean identity. The group includes Sisters Paula Domingues Martins (Portugal), Leonízia Izabel da Silva (Brazil), Rosalie Mangana Dumadaug (Philippines), Mariquinha Fátima da Conceição (Angola), and Dolores (Doris) Zahra (Malta).

Our sisters arrive in Sri Lanka with the mission to serve, engage in dialogue with the local culture, and bear witness to the charism of Saint Paula Frassinetti, strengthening the Congregation’s presence in new territories.
